Section Manager - Personal Care products, AkzoNobel –Stenungsund
AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry in Stenungsund, Sweden is expanding its Research, Development and Innovation center (RD&I) and is recruiting a Manager for the Personal Care and Hair Styling section.
As Section Manager Personal Care & Hair Styling you will manage a team of five Chemists and will act as an expert in the segment covering: patents, publications, trade journals technologies and long-term trends. Excellent understanding of the market is essential to this role. You will be expected to conduct customer visits to mine new project ideas, to understand customer requests and needs and how they can be solved with Surface Chemistry’s tools.
In the role as Section Manager Personal Care & Hair Styling you will be responsible for:
Coordinating and prioritizing technical service for AkzoNobel customers
Managing the team and creating a stimulating and developing working climate including good communication and information both within and between departments in different regions
Following the yearly plan regarding discussions on performance and people development. Ensures timeliness and quality of the work within the own team
Establishing and follow up of the department/global budget and for taking corrective actions if budget is not met
Coordinate the manpower and resource planning for R&D globally in accordance with the BU and Performance applications plans and targets
We also believe that you will actively contribute to the safety and order and have a strong focus on the Health, Safety and Environment questions.
It is a full time position, reporting to the RD&I Director. You will serve as the RD&I member on the Global and/or Regional Segment Business Team and also be a member of Management Team of RD&I.

Qualification: We are looking for an individual with a PhD. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar and 5-7 years of relevant working experience. You have in depth knowledge of Personal Care/Styling products, functions of ingredients and materials. General knowledge in surface chemistry and polymer chemistry is required as experience and practical skills in formulation of Personal Care/Styling products.
You have previous experience as people manager and enjoy leading and developing others. On a personal level you are proactive, able to prioritise and enjoy working towards continues improvements. You have good communication and interpersonal skills and excellent English, both written and spoken. Additional languages like Swedish and German or French is an advantage. Personal skills will be emphasized in the selection process.
